Beauty Gadgets We’d Actually Use (Minus the Hype)

Let’s face it: most beauty gadgets promise the moon and deliver… an expensive object that lives in your bathroom drawer. But after years of falling for techy trends and giving up by week two, we decided to go back to basics: what actually gets used?
We spent the last month testing dozens of devices and narrowed it down to five that do what they claim — no weird buzzing, no overly complicated apps, no need for a PhD to operate. These are the tools we found ourselves reaching for again and again, because they genuinely made a difference.
🔴 Omnilux Red Light Mask
Yes, it looks like Iron Man cosplay. But this LED mask is the real deal — our tester used it 3–4 times a week and saw visible improvement in skin texture and evenness within two weeks. It’s pricey, yes. But if you’re dealing with dullness, redness, or just want that post-facial glow without leaving home, this mask actually delivers. Bonus: it’s surprisingly comfortable, and you can drink tea while wearing it.
💜 Foreo Luna 4 Mini
This one surprised us. Most silicone face brushes either feel too harsh or do absolutely nothing. The Luna 4 Mini hit the sweet spot — soft but effective, especially for clogged pores and texture around the nose and chin. The battery lasts forever, it’s fully waterproof, and unlike brush-heads, you don’t have to keep replacing parts. We even started using it in the shower (don’t judge).
💗 NuFACE Mini
If you’ve ever wondered whether microcurrent tech actually works — it does, but you need to be consistent. We used this every other day on jawlines and cheekbones, and while it doesn’t replace filler (let’s be real), it does make your face look more “awake.” It’s like caffeine, but for your skin. Just don’t skip the gel — it really matters.
❄️ Therabody Depuffing Wand
This is the unsung hero of the bunch. Keep it in the fridge, and it’ll be your new morning best friend. The cool metal tip helps de-puff eyes in seconds, and the light vibration feels surprisingly soothing. Our editor with chronic allergy eyes said it’s the only thing that makes her feel human before 9am.
🌞 Tanrevel Spray Tan Device
We were skeptical. Home spray tan machines don’t exactly have the best reputation. But this one? It’s idiot-proof. You fill the little cartridge, press a button, and get a light, natural-looking glow in 30 seconds. No streaks, no smell, no regret. Especially great for collarbones and legs before you realize your legs haven’t seen sun since September.
Why we’d recommend these
Because they’re practical. Because they work. And because they actually got used more than once. Every item on this list was tested for at least two weeks, and none of them are here just for clicks.
Are they cheap? Not all of them. But when you factor in how much skincare we’ve wasted on “miracle” creams that do nothing — these gadgets start to look like smart investments.
